Our Values

Our School Values – THINK

At Tidbury Green Primary School, our values sit at the heart of everything we do. They shape the way we learn, the way we treat one another and the way we grow as individuals. Our THINK values guide both our everyday interactions and our long-term aspirations for the children in our care.

Together, they help us build a school community where every child feels they belong, every voice is heard and every learner is encouraged to achieve their very best.

T – Together Stronger

We believe that we achieve more when we support one another.
This means:

  • Working collaboratively in lessons

  • Supporting friends on the playground

  • Celebrating each other’s successes

  • Being inclusive and welcoming to everyone

H – Honesty

We encourage children to be truthful, take responsibility for their actions and make thoughtful choices.
This means:

  • Speaking truthfully even when it feels difficult

  • Owning mistakes and learning from them

  • Showing integrity in learning and behaviour

I – Independence

We want children to grow into confident, capable learners who take responsibility for their work and behaviour.
This means:

  • Using strategies independently

  • Solving problems step-by-step

  • Managing belongings and routines

  • Developing self-belief and personal responsibility

N – Never Give Up

Resilience is a key life skill. We teach children that mistakes help us learn and that determination leads to progress.
This means:

  • Persevering with challenging tasks

  • Using feedback to improve

  • Trying again after setbacks

  • Celebrating effort as much as achievement

K – Kindness and Courtesy

We expect all children to treat others with respect, compassion and good manners.
This means:

  • Using kind words and actions

  • Showing empathy and care

  • Acting politely and respectfully

  • Ensuring everyone feels safe and valued

How Our Values Shape School Life

In Our Curriculum

The THINK values are woven throughout all areas of learning.
Children encounter opportunities to collaborate, reflect, persevere and show respect across every subject. Through carefully planned experiences—such as group tasks, discussions, problem-solving activities and hands-on projects—our values become part of everyday learning, not just something we talk about.

In Our Assemblies

Each half term, our assemblies shine a spotlight on a particular THINK value. We share stories, examples and celebrations that help children understand how these values make a positive difference both in and out of school.

The THINK Awards

At the end of each term, we celebrate children who have shown exceptional commitment to living our values. The THINK Awards recognise those who have consistently demonstrated teamwork, honesty, independence, resilience or kindness. These awards are a highlight of our school year and a wonderful reminder of the personal qualities we want all children to develop.
