Meet the Governors

Our Governors

The Governing Body is made up of staff, parents, local authority and co-opted representatives. The Governing Body takes a strategic role, acting as a critical friend to the school and is accountable for its decisions. It sets aims and objectives and agrees, monitors and reviews policies, targets and priorities. The Governing Body reflects on the effectiveness of their work to ensure that raising standards and improving outcomes remains at the forefront of monitoring and challenge.

The Governors work as a team with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to evaluate progress and to drive improvement. Our Governors know the school well, carrying out Link Governor visits which helps them to make informed decisions, ask searching questions and to provide support.

Parents wishing to put themselves forward as Governors have the opportunity to do so when a Parent Governor’s term of office expires. If there are more nominations than places vacant, an election will be held.

Our Clerk to the Governors is Mrs C Hawkes and you can contact her by email:

Governor Biographies

 Jo Weston

I have been a Tidbury Green resident for the last 16 years and a governor here for 10+years, since before my oldest son started in reception.

Both of my two sons attended Tidbury and I’m still a governor!

One of the reasons I became a governor was to understand a lot more about the school environment in which my children were about to join.

It has given me a great sense of community and I have found it extremely interesting and rewarding.

I have also been able to utilise my skills from my workplace where I am a qualified accountant working in Regulation at National Grid.

There have been lots of changes during my time at Tidbury and some of those times have been tough, but I believe we have a really good leadership team who are well prepared for the next phase in Tidbury’s journey.

 Chris Adcock

My name is Chris Adcock and I am governor at Tidbury Green School. I have lived around the Solihull area for most of my life but only moved to Tidbury Green in 2018, keen to give back and to be a part of the community I joined the board of governors.
The majority of my career has been in recruitment taking on various leadership roles over the years. I am currently Managing Director of Reed Technology the IT specialist business of Reed. I am passionate about developing and supporting people and believe that the role of a leadership team is to enable their staff to achieve their goals. Recently I've done some work and talks on gender equality in the workplace and I believe that a lot of the issues around equality start from a young age. As part of this we support TechSheCan and TechWeCan, an initiative designed to educate children and improve the gender balance in technology.
I also sit on the board of trustees for a children's charity called KidsOut, we are a national charity that support disadvantaged children and bring some fun into their lives.
I'm lucky to have a fantastic family including two young girls and a brilliant wife. We live a few minutes’ walk from the school and love the area and community.

With two children already at the school and as a resident of Tidbury Green, I feel strong links to the community and would relish the opportunity to have an input in the strategic direction of the school. With the recent restructuring in school leadership and having had a period of growth over the last number of years, it would be privilege to work with the school in achieving its well-deserved  ‘Outstanding’ status.  With 10+ years working in health and social care, three of these managing the commercial performance of specialist residential services for young people and commissioning new Ofsted registered Special Educational Needs services in the Midlands and North-West of England, I believe I have a skill set that would complement that of the existing members of the Board. I have a passion for inclusive behaviour and I am proud that this is  something that is already deeply embedded in practice at Tidbury Green School.

Jeremy Pugh

My name is Jeremy Pugh and I wanted to be a governor at Tidbury Green School for several reasons. Firstly, since starting at the school my daughter has enjoyed coming to school every day and has made fantastic progress. I have been very impressed with the school, and as a result have decided not to move out of the area as I would like my daughter’s happiness and progress to continue.

Secondly, my background is in education. I have been a Primary School teacher for nineteen years and a private tutor for eighteen years. I am currently a supply teacher. During my teaching career I have been very lucky to have worked in over forty schools in the UK and abroad. Because of my experience of other schools, I am very aware of the outstanding teaching and learning at Tidbury Green School.

Furthermore, I have already been a member of the Change Team since 2021 and have really enjoyed working with the wonderful staff and parents, discussing upcoming events and new initiatives.

As a parent governor I want to use my wealth of experience to support the school so that it continues to maintain the high standards that are already in place.
