Meet the Governors
Our Governors
The Governing Body is made up of staff, parents, local authority and co-opted representatives. The Governing Body takes a strategic role, acting as a critical friend to the school and is accountable for its decisions. It sets aims and objectives and agrees, monitors and reviews policies, targets and priorities. The Governing Body reflects on the effectiveness of their work to ensure that raising standards and improving outcomes remains at the forefront of monitoring and challenge.
The Governors work as a team with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to evaluate progress and to drive improvement. Our Governors know the school well, carrying out Link Governor visits which helps them to make informed decisions, ask searching questions and to provide support.
Parents wishing to put themselves forward as Governors have the opportunity to do so when a Parent Governor’s term of office expires. If there are more nominations than places vacant, an election will be held.
Our Clerk to the Governors is Mrs M Vincent and you can contact her via the school office at s49mvincent@tidbury-green.solihull.sch.uk

Claire Dowler | |

My name is Claire Dowler and I am a Parent Governor. I have 2 children in the Foundation Unit at Tidbury Green and they love school! As a nervous mom who was sending both of her children to school for the first time last September, I was very keen to find out more about how the school runs and how my children were being educated. I have found the Foundation Unit to be amazing and have a genuine interest as I work in early years myself. I am fortunate enough to work for an outstanding local nursery and have been with them for 12 years, having worked with children aged 0-5 years for almost 20 years! In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my family, reading and attempting to keep fit! |

My name is Vic Jackson and I moved to the West Midlands with my family after they sold their small hotel in Kent. I pursued a career in engineering and became a partner in a small engineering company in Birmingham until my retirement eighteen months ago. I have been a School Governor for nearly thirty years, initially in the Birmingham area. I enjoy my involvement at Tidbury Green School working with the staff and all the children are happy and enjoy school life. My interests are walking, woodturning, and gardening, treasurer of a local allotment association, family history research, National Trust volunteer and of course time with my grandchildren.

My name is Donna McLaughlin and I have been a Parent Governor since May 2018. We moved to the area in 2016 and I was immediately struck by the friendly nature of Tidbury Green School. I was keen to get more involved and started to help out with reading and accompanying some of the year groups on swimming and school trips. I began to take more of an interest in the school and was delighted when I was successful in my application to become a governor. The pupils’ interests will always be my priority and I am keen to help the staff at Tidbury however I can, to ensure the school functions to the best of its ability in preparing our youngsters for their future beyond TG. I have been a broadcaster since graduating from University so I am not afraid to ask the questions that matter! Outside of work, I enjoy watching cricket and spending time outdoors in our beautiful local countryside. |

I have been a Tidbury Green resident for the last 16 years and a governor here for 10+years, since before my oldest son started in reception. Both of my two sons have now left Tidbury and are in years 7&9 at Tudor Grange and I’m still a governor! One of the reasons I became a governor was to understand a lot more about the school environment in which my children were about to join. It has given me a great sense of community and I have found it extremely interesting and rewarding. I have also been able to utilise my skills from my workplace where I am a qualified accountant working in Regulation at National Grid. There have been lots of changes during my time at Tidbury and some of those times have been tough, but I believe we have a really good leadership team who are well prepared for the next phase in Tidbury’s journey. |
Chris Adcock |

My name is Chris Adcock and I am governor at Tidbury Green School. I have lived around the Solihull area for most of my life but only moved to Tidbury Green in 2018, keen to give back and to be a part of the community I joined the board of governors. |
